President Joe Biden on Monday dealt senate Democrats a blow when he said in an interview that it seems as though they will be unable to convict former President Trump—once again—in an impeachment trial.

A Department of Justice prosecutor said during a court hearing on Monday that the government is aware that Williams has allegedly been "deleting her own accounts online and switching devices" and that they've been given "indications she was instructing other people to delete messages as well." 

Sen. Leahy was a vocal critic of Trump after his supporters stormed the Capitol, calling for him to be convicted on impeachment charges and barred from holding office in the future.

Just before 7 p.m. on Monday, the House of Representatives' impeachment managers will march an article accusing former President Trump of inciting an insurrection across to the Senate side of the Capitol, officially triggering a trial of the former president that could result in him being barred from holding office in the future. 

A federal judge has blocked the release of a man who allegedly brought zip ties into the Capitol during the Jan. 6 insurrection, as prosecutors say they're considering charging the Tennessean with sedition for his role in the attack, according to court papers and officials.

A Texas man who authorities said had an unlicensed firearm and nearly 80 rounds of ammunition inside his pick-up truck was arrested in Washington, D.C., on Friday after asking a passing bicycle officer for information about the Oval Office.

Sen. Josh Hawley Monday slammed the Democratic senators who filed an ethics complaint against him and Sen. Ted Cruz over their Electoral College objections on Jan. 6 -- and continued to defend his decision to object to electoral votes during the joint session to certify President Biden's Nov. 3 win. 

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has gone on record praising the storming of the Capitol as an "impressive show of democracy in action" -- the 2011 invasion of the Madison, Wis., state capitol, that is.

The contrasting cases highlight the dilemma faced by police departments nationwide as they review the behavior of dozens of officers who were in Washington the day of the riot by supporters of President Trump. Officials and experts agree that officers who were involved in the melee should be fired and charged for their role.

A growing number of Republican senators say they oppose holding an impeachment trial, a sign of the dimming chances that former President Donald Trump will be convicted on the charge that he incited a siege of the U.S. Capitol.
